I iAra Banchik Almasia a maker and scenographer from Argentina. My practice is rooted in the creation of spaces for intimate, vulnerable, and often taboo or challenging conversations. My work blurs the lines between performance, scenography, documentary, and community engagement.

I am driven by the act of transforming everyday actions, like cooking, taking pictures, or making sculptures, into collective moments of connection and dialogue. These shared actions become bridges to deeper conversations, inviting participants to experience vulnerability and authenticity.

I create what I create because I believe conversations are political acts. To speak, to listen, and to share stories is a form of resistance against polarization, a way of making space for diverse voices to be heard. My work is rooted in art-activism, where art becomes a tool to provoke, challenge norms, and open spaces for conversations.

Through performative actions, I invite participants to step into shared moments where intimacy is not only welcomed but encouraged. My installations are living archives of these encounters, preserving not just words, but the tactile, emotional, and sensory imprints of each exchange.

My audience is anyone willing to engage, reflect, and be present, strangers who become co-creators of the experience. I aim to provoke reflection on how we relate to one another, inviting participants to inhabit vulnerability as a form of strength and collective understanding. By staging these encounters, I seek to normalize diverse intimacies and challenge societal norms around connection and openness.

My art is an ongoing experiment in turning conversations into living, breathing acts of solidarity and understanding.
