We together cook a delicious and accessible plant-based meal; organize program and hold a space for the extended network of community kitchens, food activists, friends, comrades, creatives and Basecamp inhabitants to gather, share, learn, un-learn and enjoy a meal together. Each week tastes like a different #Kitchen Takeover#.
This week we invite PicoPi Collective, iAra and Mar Arditi. This evening connects to the political context of the legalization of abortion in Argentina, at a time when rights are once again being challenged.
We will begin with a workshop cooking empanadas, which will be the starter for the VOKU dinner that evening. Empanadas are a food that can be prepared in advance and brought anywhere. It is common for people to sell empanadas during protests.Empanadas bring us together, especially through the act of cooking them. Each person contributes in one way or another, preparing the dough, filling, or folding, while we gather, talk, and share time. Empanadas are also an easy food to bring to protests: simple to pack, transport, and share.
The VOKU dinner will be cooked by the Pico Pi Collective, a group that focuses on theater and bringing people together through art, performance and food, often outside traditional spaces. This evening is supported by the Pico Pi Collective, creating a space to connect and do something together.
After dinner, there will be a film screening of the documentary. The film is in Spanish with English subtitles:
